Angelina Russo is Chief Investigator of the New Literacy, New Audiences project. She has a growing national and international profile in the field of museum communication. Her research explores the interface between the communication of cultural content, design, information technology and the creative industries. In 2005 she was awarded the prestigious Queensland Smithsonian Fellowship and was invited back to the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in New York in 2006 and 2007 to evaluate the museum’s new online education program.

Dr Russo has substantial experience in the theory and practice of museum communication and new media, and was awarded the prestigious 2005 Smithsonian Fellowship by the Queensland Premier. She worked with the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum (NY) to explore the use of creative new media technologies in its signature education and outreach programs. She has previously lectured at the University of Queensland and the University of South Australia. Her PhD in Architecture and Design explores how new media technology affects the audience experience of communication in physical and virtual environments.
