Remix My Lit - literary mash-ups

Radio National's Bookshow interviews CCI researchers and writers associated with CCI's Remix My Lit project.

Remixing is a word that is often more associated with music than the literary domain. But it's been said that there are really only seven storylines and that every story has already been told. So does that mean that all stories are cover versions?

In this litigious world, reworking and then publishing a piece inspired by your favourite writer is a legal problem.

Remix My Lit has gathered the work of some prominent Australian writers who have given their fans free range to remix their short stories in whatever way they like -- because they're licensed under Creative Commons.

Amy Barker
Co-coordinator of Remix My Lit, she was awarded the 2008 Queensland Premier's literary prize for unpublished manuscript for her novel Omega Park.

Elliott Bledsoe
Co-coordinator of Remix My Lit and a project officer with Creative Commons Australia. He is also the Vice President of Vibewire.

Cate Kennedy
Short story contributor to Remix My Lit. She is the author of the short story collection Dark Roots, a travel memoir Sing and Don't Cry: A Mexican Journal, and also the poetry collections Joyflight and Signs of Other Fires.

Amra Pajalic
Remix My Lit 'remixer'. Her novel The Good Daughter will be published in 2009.
